In 1940, Assistance League of Long Beach was chartered as the fifth chapter of National Assistance League. Since then, Chapter members have been providing ever increasing and expanding services to the Long Beach community. In its growth, Chapter has chartered several auxiliaries which support its philanthropic programs and offer valuable programs of their own.
Chapter members are 210 strong and very hands-on with the philanthropic programs and with fundraising. They operate numerous programs, some on their own and others with help from members of the auxiliaries. The philanthropic programs include ALa Carte, The Kids on the BlockTM, Operation School Bell, the Orthodontic Program, and Scholarships. They also conduct tours for middle school students of the museum quality Howard and Asian Art Collection.
Chapter members also operate a Thrift & Vintage Shop. The shop is open six days a week. Proceeds from the shop cover all administrative expenses for the organization and contribute to the operational expenses of the philanthropic programs.
Membership is open once a year. Informational sessions begin in the spring and membership begins in June. For more information, please contact us at (562) 627-5650 or info@ALLB.org.
